The filter is going to be clean. Just buy the rubber gasket for a couple of bux from the store.

The gasket is not available here and getting it in the States will cost too much in shipping. I got Abro gasket maker. So I will put that on. How long should I wait for it to cure before filling it back up?

I am glad I found this before changing my fluids. I am going to try this this weekend and see if it helps with the hesitation I tend to get when it is colder

In order for a transmission to perform properly, it must reach up to its normal operating temperature

How did you guys remove the transmission pan??

I removed all the bolts but couldn't remove the pan due to Toyota's gasket maker.

I am aware of that. It is hard to explain. Even at operating temps it tends to happen from a dead .stop. It acts very sluggish more so on colder days

Who ever dropped my tranny pan before caked it up with gasket maker. I had a hell of a time getting the pan off. I adjusted the regulator to the third position and it has helped with the problem I was experiencing. When I first drove it, it almost felt like it was in sport mode while in normal. That would be the best was I could explain it. I would recommend this if you haven't already.

And it took me 3.75 qts to refill. I used on old milk jug to catch the tranny fluid so I could measure the old and refill the new. I made the mistake one time of just drained the tranny not paying attention to the amount of tranny fluid I took out in one of my old cars and it never acted right after that.

My first attempt in removing the tranny pan failed. I put the bolts back on, but now oil leaks from almost each bolt... Once you start , there's no way back..
So now I will try with a sharp/thin putty knife and a rubber mallet.

Few questions:

1. I have read putting a jack under the pan and jack it up slightly will put pressure on the seal and break it? Has anyone tried this method?

2. Do you need to unbolt the refill tube? Or is it just plugged in the pan??

Thanks

Guys... use a wide thin chissel...the wider the better, that way you can distribute the pressure more evenly so that it won't bend the pan.

Rubber gasket is available from the autozone, etc... it's a couple bux, you don't need the toyota red gasket.

When tightening the bolts... make sure you torgue it evenly. Start from each corner, then middle sides, etc... then go back and tighten everything up.

Make sure the tranny tube is fitted first before bolting the pan back on.

I would imagine you would only put a dent in the pan with a jack and the refill tube just slides into the part attached to the pan.

As^^ said you a chisel as wide as you can find would be one of the easiest and safest to keep from bending. I used a razor blade and tapped it with a hammer till I broke it loose
