Exclamation I want to remove the resonator (exhaust) of my IS300

I want to remove the resonator of my IS300 but keep the factory pipe and exhaust.

Make much noise? Could increase power?

I doubt you will see power gains.....but you will definately hear more noise. Hell if you just remove the rear muffler and leave the reasonator on it gets very deep. Try it. Take off the rear section, and fire it up.

You suggest that i should remove the muffler and leave the resonator. Or try taking off the cat-back after remove it?

Just go to a local exhaust shop and have them cut out your old resonator and weld straight pipe in. I did that to mine and they charged like $35 or $40 to do it at the exhaust shop, but I also have OBX headers and y-pipe and a Megan Racing exhaust, I'm actually getting ready to sell the Megan Racing exhaust because I just bought a HKS Hi Power. If you are interested in the exhaust PM me or let me know I will give you a really good deal on it and it is like brand new with 4k to 5k miles on it.

what are you looking to do in the long run....Like everyone says, it's not a honda. It's a Lexus, treat it like one. Dish out the $ for a Cat back and maybe some headers. if you don't want the Cat back, get an axle back and like 03Lex said take it to an exhaust shop to cut the the res and weld in a straight pipe. If your looking for power gains, good luck trying to find it in your exhaust.

I purchased a HKS HI-POWER exhaust which only comes catback but my opinion by far the best sounding exhaust they make for is300. I removed the resonator and added a pipe there to replace it. I defiantly feel some power and defiantly got way louder and had a better tone to it. I suggest doing it

agree on this 100% . I have this exact same set up except I have an OBX Header and Y-pipe, if you get a header and y pipe for yours it will sound very deep and throaty. mine is loud as f*** but sounds very good.

search youtube for sound clips , resonator elimination will not add HP ....if you wanna do it right , have an exhaust shop weld you up a 2.5in custom exhaust with least amount of bends w/ muffler and one resonator....or just get a decent axle back and call it a day.
