80-90 valvoline Synthetic Blend Gear Oil .. good enough for torsen 3.76 auto lsd ?
just bought and installed a supra 3.76 torsen lsd unit in my gs4... put in 80-90 valvoline Synthetic Blend Gear Oil .. would this be good enough or do i need 75-90 royal blue or something for thicker? im hoping im good

Why not go with 75-90? You're in NY and it doesn't hurt to have the lower weight (cold) for the winter. Hot climate performance between the two is practically the same. Torsen type LSD like the one from the supra requires no special oil. Just the same fluid as the OEM GS unit. It's only when you get the clutch-type LSD (TRD) where you need a particular fluid with friction modifier in it.

Never listen to the guys at autozone unless they specifically own a supra, and they work on their own cars. Unless you have a lot of power and your differential heats up very quickly, your application does not warrant the 80w-90 fluid.
Most people jump on the synthetic bandwagon because it's only a few bucks more than regular fluid.

I've been running the Valvoline 75W-90 synthetic for a year now in my 3.76 LSD. works very well. I changed the fluid after the first 1k mi. just as a precaution.
