Few questions for SC300 swap.
Hi guys, I'm new to the ClubLexus forums. I'm thinking of getting an SC300 to do a conversion and I have a few questions. What year is the best to do a 2JZ-GTE swap? I heard something about the '95 having a bigger tunnel to accomodate the 6 speed transmission. Is this true? How hard would it be to modify a '93 to make it fit? I want to do a '93 since the motor comes from the '93 Supra TT, and I've hear that to have the motor put in legally, the engine has the be either same year or new than the car it goes into. Is that true as well? Thanks for any help you guys can give me.

hehe, see that you're from california and knowing about the year of the motor being the same as the car making it legal is very true, but that 2jz-gte motor never came with the SC300 car, only in the supra.
the 1jz-gte came with the sc300 (Soarer 2.5 GT) in japan tho.
all 2jz motors drop right into the sc300, because their stock motor is a 2jz-ge, so same engine mounts. the big thing you need to worry about is the tranny, someone will fill you in.

I'm pretty sure the 95+ SC3's are easier to do the drop in because they do have the wider tunnel for the 6spd. I have a 92 SC3 and I'm going to need to have the tunnel widened on mine and also have a custom driveshaft made to fit the 6spd.
I'm not 100% sure on this but I'm pretty sure that if you have a new engine put into an older car, then that should be ok. Then you'd have to worry about emissions and be sure you have it ok for smog.

How hard is it to widen the tunnel? What do you have to do? Does it need to be done by a professional? If I have the entire rear end of the Supra, do I need to get the custom driveshaft that you mention of?
Thanks.
Thanks.

What kinda shops can I ask to make custom driveshafts? If I take a BFH to it, are there any areas that I should concentrate on? How much do I have to widen it? Should I take care in widening it or can I just wack the hell out of it? What else do I have to modifiy/custom to make everything work? I have the whole car by the way. It's totaled, but it's only damaged in the front, so I'm going to use almost EVERYTHING I can from the wrecked Supra.

Is the car an auto or 6 speed? If its an auto engine and you are wanting to put in a stick, then you are going to have hell with the wiring. I have pictures and wiring diagrams for the NA if you need.
