Default Valvetrain cleaning

I took out my valves and springs and all of that so I could take the head to the machine shop. He got it all nice and cleaned up with new valve seals, but has anyone ever had their stock valves cleaned? Did you do it yourself? How did it turn out? Just looking for some info, I might just buy stock-like valves from BC. Same goes for the retainers and springs.
