Should I rebuild this free 2JZGE?
I recently got a free near complete2jz from a member locally for free.
I somewhat inventoried what I got from him in all the boxes.
I know I got.
GE block
GE pistons with bearings and rods
GE crankshaft
GE head, complete
GE camshaft
Upper and lower oil pans
Fuel rail with damper
Valve covers, 2 sets
Harmonic Balance complete distributor
Lower intake manifold
Misc hoses
Metal bracket for rear main seal
Crankshaft gear with bolt
Thermostat housing
TT OEM Toyota headgasket (wooooot!!!!)
Water pump(used)
Timing belt(used)
Timing belt tensioner(used)
Oil pump(used)
Clutch kit(used)
Metal pipe/hose (?)
So far I know I need to get,
Main crank caps
Oil pickup tube
Maitnence items, I'm not going to use old ones
Anything else, I would swap from my GE.
If I build this engine it would be for a NA-T. I'm considering this due to my current GE has a partial blown headgasket(loosing coolant, heavy smoke on start up, exhaust fume smell out of radiator), oil pan and front and rear seals leaking. Also has been overheated by previouss owners ex wife, a friend of mine which he had to replace the head. He also told me I should swap the motor with something better before I think about na-t
Along with that, I have a W58 swap to install also.
I know if I buy used caps, I would need to line bore my block due to different caps, also the block has minor surface rust of piston walls, so a trip to the machine shop is in order anyways. Another option would be to buy billet mains, which I still have to line bore this engine.
Does this seem like a good idea?
Thanks for reading this, haha and other options would be considered too.
