Oem vs aftermarket molding
Hey guys I have a 1999 SC300 and having my windshield replaced my problem is the molding from the top of the windshield to the roof is bad and has to be replaced the windshield company said they would replace it Which the insurance also covers it did any of you guys have yours replaced and how does it look compared to the oem. Every picture in this forum that I see are all different from each other thanks

I had a new PPG windshield put in a few months ago. I think the bits you pictured are what I provided as factory replacement parts for the installation but they did have their own molding available to use and it should work just as well. For cosmetic pieces I always say go OEM if it fits your budget or you can't accept anything else but by all means it's a good thing we have alternatives for our older cars.

Thanks for the input , what I really was wanting was some photos of some sc's out there with there non oem molding. just got the car painted and the bodyshop taped it just a little under the oem molding so wanting to know how much difference the aftermarket would cover or would it stop right at the edge of the roof. I seen it both ways and the windshield folks don't know. just seen a picture of someone's else build and the whole roof was rusting starting from the windshield molding. I guess I'll call toyota tomorrow and find out how much those pieces go for.
