My first lexus EVER!!! SO AMP'D!!! Have a few questions
Ok guys I know you want to see so here she is, my first lexus ever a 1992 SC400
Its pretty much stock except for cut springs, a spectre cone filter intake, and a 2 huge exhaust tips with resonator delete.
First of all, the goob that owned the car before me did not know how to maintain very well. He said the CEL popped on and couldnt figure it out. The first thing I noticed when he popped the hood was an unplugged vacuum hose. First thing I did when I got home was unplug the battery and hook the vacuum hose back up. Started the car drove for an hour and no CEL!!!
Secondly, I noticed that once the engine heat soaks for a while the tempurature will creep up pretty high when it idles in traffic. But if I tap the gas or start to move again the temps immediately drop back down. I have been told it is the hydraulic fan, I checked the reservoir for the fan and it seems almost empty, I mean I can see the reservoir is about a 1/10th of the way full.
My question is would the low fluid in the fan reservoir not allow the fan to work like it should? I'm going to top the fluid off but I really dont want to risk blowing a head gasket by allowing the engine to heat up that much.
Thanks!!!

Good call tools... Me and the previous owner did not know that the coolant is supposed to be added through the Bolton top of the thermostat! My temp gauge does not move a tick past normal operating temp!!! Hell yea!
