1JZ VVTI FPR vacuum switch / solenoid?
Hey Guys,
I am just cleaning up the vacuum / coolant lines on my VVTI 1JZ and I see a vacuum switch on the vacuum line going to the fuel pressure regulator. I have never seen that before and was wondering what the purpose of this was and can I delete it or should I leave it in there?
cheers
Marko
PS. can someone also confirm that this blue tipped switch below the intake manifold is the vacuum canister vacuum switch? It has 90910-12177 on it. I am 99% sure that one is safe to delete.

from searching around google i found this tidbit on RX7 forums:
i haven't seen this used on my other cars and since i don't live in Socal or Arizona i think i will remove it. no real 'hot starts' in Seattle. I can always put it back if i need it i guess.
The FPR solenoid is a hot start solenoid. It's common on cars of that era with an FD style of fuel injection (sequential multipoint injection). What it does is cut the vacuum to the fuel pressure regulator in the event of a very hot start so that fuel pressure will increase. Its control is based on the fuel temperature sensor signal. It is supposed to prevent vapor lock or rough idle.

what would the one on the BOV be used for?? i didnt even notice one there yet..
my engine is going to be nice and clean once im done ripping all this stuff out. i am probably going overboard but im cutting the coolant passages off the throttle body and IACV too haha.

i ended up simply putting some radiator hose caps onto the nipples on the coolant pipe and cylinder head. I don't wanna get that deep into the motor at this point Just trying to clean up all the over engineering trinkets that are on the engine and a mild climate like where i am doesn't require. When it's time to upgrade the turbo i might go further..
