1JZGTE Single Turbo. DIY HEAD REMOVAL??
hey guys, I now have a 1998 sc300 1jzgte single turbo. The head gasket blew on me and Ive been getting prices from local shops to do the job for me but its ridiculously high prices.
So Ive been thinking and im going to try and do the job my self. Im not a Highly skilled mechanic but Ive taken apart a few Honda motors and did a few swaps.
What im looking for is a guide, Like a DIY thread. Ive searched and searched and i cant find crap!
Please any links or info would be a great help.
Heres my list of parts so far. (BTW any help on finding cheap parts or anything will be appreciated)
OEM 1jzgte headgasket
timing belt
water pump
crankshaft seal
camshaft seal (x2)
ARP studs
Valve seals
My spending money is very limited, so im only changing the main stuff required. And that seems to be about right. Any other parts i should add please feel free too.

Times 2.. I would also change the oil pump as well. I believe this means you need to pull the motor out to this, but well worth the piece of mind. I have never seen a complete DIY on this on here. You might try the Supraforums.

What's wrong with the oil pump?
Why did the Hg blew?
I would replace the Wp, cam seals, thermostat, heater hose if they have not been replaced before.
HG job and rear main seal are 2 different stuff, you do the rear main when you replace the clutch or replace the bottom end.
If your back can take the beating you can do it in the car, if will take you just as much time as pulling the motor and you have to replace all the fluids at that time.
Just get the manual and you are good to go.
Dont torq the arp's to the toyota factory spec, torq them to 85ft lbs in 3 sequence 25ft lbs /55 ft lbs and then 85ft lbs.
