Default Tail Lights out - First checks?

So my tails are dead. I figure there's probably a fuse for them specifically. It's a 92 with 97+ tails, which I plan on getting rid of anyway. When people trim out the excess bulbs for the 97+ conversion, is it common to blow the fuse for the rear tails (assuming that there is a fuse specifically for the rear tails)?

And if I want to go back to three bulb turn signals, does anyone have experience with that? I looked through some threads here, but I couldn't find anything definitive.

Thanks
