Default Stalling/dying issue on a 1992 SC300

Hi guys. My cousin started having problems on his 300. Car would drive then hesitate and sputter and finally die. After sitting awhile it would restart and continue with this cycle.

He took it to a local shop who couldn't find anything wrong with it then took it somewhere else when it happened again and they diagnosed it as the MAF.

Got one on eBay, I installed it Thursday and got a text this AM saying it was doing the same thing again.

Sounds like a spark or fuel issue but weird how it starts to die, dies, then comes back to do it again. Any obvious places to check? Or does the MAF need to be coded or reset?

TIA!
