Default what tranny would you go with and why?

So its been about a month now since i blew my w58 tranny on the way to work. I started doing some research on which tranny to upgrade to and now im unsure. One option was building my w58 to make it stronger. But for the price, i might as well go with the r154. Option two is the r154 but after doing some more research i found that the cd009 out of a 350z 05 -up would be nice. I figure that this 350z would be a good fit because after blowing up that w58 i just want to do it right and be done, but on a little budget too. The setup that im running right now is na-t that has precision 6262, 440cc, aem series 2 and with this i was pushing about 364hp and 340 tq on 10 pounds. I want to push about 600-700hp soon, so which tranny would you go with and why? And if you know anybody that has any of these for sale let me know. I just know that if i had that 350z in my sc300 it would probably be a beast...

Oh and does anyone have that 350z tranny swap on a 2jz?

just got done reading a thread about a 2j with a cd009 transmission.
Its about half the cost of a v160 swap. More than likely ill go this route next spring.
You need to get an adapter plate, slave cylinder, new clutch lines, clutch and all that.
Also, you will need to modify the shift location, trim your center console and other things.
Looks kinda tough, but so awesome!

long read but worth it!

Keep in mind the 350z cd009 has gearing more similar to the v160 compared to a R154/W58 so a final drive swap would also be nice if you want to build meaningful boost in low gears.

Waiting for more people to try out the adapter for those trans. Already have a spare cd006 with grinding 2nd gear that would be a great candidate for swap. Think of it as a v160 with modern smoother shifting internals.

I vote for an R154 rebuilt with MC parts and the DM 3-4 shift fork but since you say you want 750hp… maybe you need to look into a V160 swap since that's the safe upper limit for the 5-speed. Depends on how it's driven?

The Nissan 6-speed swap is very promising but I haven't seen anyone showcasing it fully working in an SC yet.

EDIT: I just started looking through that thread and found I had asked the same question of you, INTIMAZY. Re-reading

I would go r154 because it's easy to install, and designed for the chassis. The 6 speed shifter location and geometry are not great from what I have seen. Not to mention all the custom stuff involved, such as driveshaft, adapter plate, crossmembers, etc.

dont make life hard on yourself and on wallet .. go r154 , ive had mine at 610 rwhp since 2010 and drive car every day .. if you plan to race alot or drag alot , get the mc upgrades done and get a good twin disk and she will handle almost anything you throw at it , also another key to r154 survival is using the right gear oil , red line mt 90 will be super good to the box , used in mine for years

^^ Second the Redline MT90. I've used that in both my old W58 and current R154. This is the type *without* any LSD friction modifier.
