clutch pedal question for the pros
I just got installing my oem sc300 clutch pedal in my 1993 sc300. After fighting with the spring to get it compressed and getting it completely assembled. i noticed that if you barley touch the pedal the spring makes it shoot down towards the floor. theres no fluid in the master cylinder. Is this normal? on most vehicals i see the spring makes the clutch pedal go outward not inward. i researched and couldnt find an answer. i also have all the bushings in and everything and it squeaks like hell. ive also noticed when i got the pedal depressed my foot hits the foot rest is all of this normal?

when my supra was n/a with a w58 the clutch master clyinder went bad pretty much the same as your system not being closed loop and when i pushed in the clutch it stuck to the floor, get it all togather bleed it all out and you will have a clutch pedal that returns

If the clutch MC isn't hooked up to the slave cylinder with hydraulic fluid, then it will react just as you describe. That's because there's no pressure being applied by the diaphragm of the pressure plate when the clutch pedal is depressed. Basically, the diaphragm is a glorified spring that pushes the clutch pedal back into the "up" position.
