IIRC, the LSx series of motors, LS1, LS6, LS7, etc. are all externally pretty much the same size. I've seen a thread on here for a LS1 powered SC, so you should be able to get a LS7 into one.

Why not just dump all that money into the 1UZ. You have a V8 at hand already, just do a sweet build on it, a twin turbo or supercharger, etc.

Any LSx has the same external dimensions. Therefore, the largest motor you can fit is probably a sleeved 454ci. Don't ask about price.

edit: Not sleeved, I meant iron block.

You see the rwhp you got there? approx 400rwhp with a built everything.
Take a $500 LS1, add heads/cam/intake and you will pull about 420-460rwhp with some nice lope. Add a lot less weight (170-200lbs less with those turbos)

Maybe that is the reason the OP went that route??

now the part im having trouble understanding with these engines is how can a ls7 engine fit in an sc400? isnt the sc400 a 4.0 liter engine and the ls7 a 7.0?

also is the ls9 engine possible in an sc400? or is that engine too big for the lexus

some people may say this is a waste of money or time but in my eyes it isnt
i want to build the first sc400 with the ls7 or preferably ls9 if possible

Yes the Ls7 is a 7 liter and the Ls9 is a 6.3 liter. However the Ls9 is bigger and heavier than the Ls7 thanks to the supercharger attached to it.
The LS9 is closer in size and weight to the 4.0 liter in the sc400 (the 1UZ being wider and the LS9 being taller). Weight wise, they are pretty damn close
Both the 1uz and the LS9 are bigger and heavier than the LS7

Different technology in the LS engines vs the UZ engines

Because while the 1UZ is a 4.0 and the LS7 a 7.0, their external dimensions are similar.

The LS9 is a bit larger due to the supercharger. You would need a custom hood at least. But yes, it'd be street legal as long as it was hooked up to a proper exhaust to pass smog/emissions if your state does those.

please, please, please let me know where you can get a LS1 for this price? a LM7 5.3 is what you probably mean, which is an iron block truck motor. def not an alum block LS1, same family yesss, but which would negate the weight savings you spoke of. been a member of LS1 tech for a long time and never seen an actual ls1 go for that price.

to the OP, if money is no object, buy which ever motor you want, do some research on which member of the LS series of motors is best for you, and still considering money isnt an factor still, you can pay someone to make it fit. for an ls7/trans and install all said and done id be surprised if it could be done <10K. but if this is what you want by all means go for it! great motors!

cost vs hp. Go with a 6.0 either LS2 or LS6 or LQ4

LQ your lookin at around $2000 with tranny

LS2 about $3000

LS6 about $4000

I am making around 500 hp with a 100 shot in my 6.0 lq4

I wouldn't even bother including the LS6. They're very similar to the LS2 and are really not worth the higher cost IMO.

LS3's have nice heads but the cost is still up there.
