Default Help me pin point this weird sound from my engine??!

My gte motor has been making this weird moaning sound when I turn the car off. Since last week it can be now heard when I ease off the throttle each time.

The moan does not change or get loader when I turn my steering wheel or stop or accererate. So I can count out the steering column/rack n pinion/power steering as the issue. It does not get louder if I rev the car, but reving will produce the sound when the rpms come back to idle.

When I turn the car off the moan sounds like pressure is being released. Its loud then slowly fades away. *BurrrHMmmMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm mmmmm * type sound.

When I drive around town coming to a stop I ease off my throttle and it can be heard again waiting at the stop light. *BUuurrrhMmmMmmmmmmmmmm mmmm* its a moaning sound..

Other than the sound my car drives 100% fine. Boosting great. No problems at all.

Ill get a video sound clip when I get home. What the hell can it be I never had a car I owned do this o_O. I tryed to listen to it with my friend revin my car but cant find where its coming from.

Have you made any changes to your car recently or had some work done to it at a shop?

Pull the belt and run the car. See if it still makes the noise.

Does it sound similar to the death whine? A while back mines would whine during deceleration, sounded like the death whine, but the death whine only occurs during boost. Turns out that the vac line from the valve cover to the intake mani gets a bit pinched during decel so it made that whine.

Sorry for late reply. Here is the engine noise video I uploaded.
The last thing I had done to my car was replacing my power steering pump.

I do not believe it is death whine from my turbos. My car makes no noise under boosting. If it was deathwhine I would hear it under boost and much louder.

I hope you guys can help me out before I go to my mech on thursday. Thanks!

Turn up your speakers its a clear "MOANNN" after each time I rev.

Did you try pulling the belt? Do you have EGR? You may want to check the valve if you do. Also check for leaks at your vac/boost canister for the twins.

It's like the scary tone in a Jaws movie when you're alone underwater and something bad is lurking, LOL.......

^ There was an update on my thread
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...ml#post6766416

Anddd for my problem. The sound is coming from my intake piping. Its coming from one of the valves. I think its the Intake Air Control Valve thats not closing shut correctly. Its not for sure but when I move to open manually the sound will stop.

When I had stock USDM twins mine made a similar sound I asked around and was told its something to do with the vacuum lines or the iacv... I never really got a clear answer and didn't pay it much mind since I was going single anyway. Double check on SF for more info.

Thanks cherp. I just posted on SF to ask around. I think its the IACV as well. When I fully extend it the sound disappears. I really dont want to go single in **** california. =(
