My 1jz has AC!
Just added one can of R-134a Quick Cool (14oz can) to low side service port. I'm happy that the AC is cold but should I add another can? I'm using the same compressor that came with my 93 2jzge. The can said "stop leak, Oil Charge, and O ring conditioner. Cost me about 22 bucks at auto zone.

^^^^ That's great but I'm not a service tech. nor do I have the proper tools. Anyway, if anyon has done this before I would appreciate some information that would help me out.
Today was really warm and it is not blowing as cold as I want. Not sure if I should add some R134 with oil or not.

My 1jz soarer says on the hood :
R12 charge
Max: 2.2 lbs (1.0 kg)
Min: 1.98 lbs (.90kg)
so for converting a r12 to r134 system - basically says not to exceed 80-85% of that amount when using r134 in a system that was originally r12.
so IF you happen to have yours converted..
dont use more than .8kg which is 1.76 lbs of r134
from an EMPTY system.
your cans will tell you it is equivilant to
1.2lbs or r12 or 1lb of r134. (but check your can it tells you)

I didn't vacume out the system. When I dId the swap I unbolted the AC lines then BOOM! Green blast of juice came flowing out of the line.
Anyway, I've been using my AC everyday since I put in the r134. So far so good. Stinks like sheitt for the first few minutes though.

when i swapped mine, i just layed the ac compressor to the side, then bolted it back up. when i added electric fans, it made 1000% difference. I ride with penguins now. People complain its too cold when it's 110 out.
as for the smell, they make a ac flush kit (get it at your local auto value/ bumper to bumper store). it goes in your evap tube and kills all the bacteria in there. It also has a ac refresher to spray through your intake, since we dont have replaceable cabin air filters.

I'll flush the whole AC system and take care of the smell when I do a major engine overhaul.
