Default Engine is finally starting give up?

this engine has over 317k and been running strong for over 1 1/2 years, i notice it started to tick/knock a few months ago not sure what is causing it. this is on a cold engine start but goes away after engine is fully warmed up. first thing that comes to my mind is when i took the head off to replace the HG, i tilt the head over and all the shim buckets fell out. at that time i didn't know much about them so i just cleaned them best i could and randomly put them back on. what does this sound like to you guys, valves, bearings, etc.? btw don't mind the exhaust leak.

Sounds like rod bearing to me, but it is kinda tough to tell from the video.

Now that you know more about the shimming process, why don't you pop the valve covers and check your lash? Maybe you will get lucky and a valve adjustment will fix it What is the oil pressure doing?

i will have to take a look at the clearance once it's not hot outside. the oil pressure seems normal, around 70-80 psi then once the engine is warmed up it drops to about 25 psi.

the more and more i watch youtube videos the more i believe it's a rod knock which means it's the bearings b/c a lot of those videos makes the same sounds as mine does. can a rod knock go away after the motor is fully warmed up?

it's only at 25 psi when the motor is fully warmed up and during idle.
