Just to let you guys know, with very little modification you can run a V160 shifter on your R154. I just put on a V160 C's shifter tonight, took about 30 mins work but it works perfectly
^^Correct that will only work for the 1gen W58 92-94 SC or Mk3 W58 /Mk3 R154 or 1Gen R154 from soarer .
Can anyone confirm that this is true? I have read that the suprasport and beech shifters sit too far forward when installed in a soarer. It still shifts, but it looks and feels awkward.

Hey guys sorry to bump an old thread, but I keep running into dead ends while searching for an answer.
Can ANYONE confirm that a V160 short shifter kit will work on a Soarer (Tri Pod Style)
So far I've heard that the TRD V160 SS kit may work, along with the C's SS.
the v160 shifter is basically the same shifter as the w58 and r154 remote style transmissions. mostly the difference is the 6 speed has an extra spring and collar for reverse gear lockout. I haven't done it so I don't know how it fits or shifts, but it should fit.
I have the suprasport v3 shifter. Its a high quality piece and works well. Love the height as it closely resembles how a v160 setup looks and you can also shorten it..its not notchey like a c's shifter and sits perfectly..makes me love my r154 again
