Power Antenna works in reverse - free 6pack to whoever figures this one out!
I have a 93SC400 - system was all stock with the wiring harness in all locations fully intact. My power antenna works in reverse. When the radio power is off or the car turned off, it rises up. When the am/fm is selected it goes down; comes back up when selecting cd. I just changed out the old stock Pioneer headunit b/c it kept turning on/off for an aftermarket headunit, wired everything up as said on the discussion boards and the darn thing works in reverse again... All wires on the antenna side in the trunk are intact. Can someone help me on this one?
Side note - When taking apart the rear deck I found my subwoofer still there, but it has never worked. I made the mod for the rca adapter as in the forums and it still doesn't work. I know we splice the wires near the sub amp to keep power to the sub with the antenna up or down; would this crazy azz antenna affect the sub woofer working or is my sub amp fried?

Easiest way to find out if your sub amp is working is just to get a little light bulb meter. Check power coming in to it and then check the outlet side. As far as the antenna, I have two ideas..
1. Dont worry anymore about messing with the stock antenna wiring. Run a wire from the deck antenna out directly to the antenna. Make sure it has a power source/tap too. This way, you bypass any old SC wires.
2. Get a different antenna off an SC and see what happens with that one.

I can ship the 6pack overnight mail or fedex...wait, that's illegal...or I can paypal some 6pack money....but thanks for the idea. I will test the amp tomorrow to see if its getting power. I might play around with the antenna for a day or two, but will probably just unplug the dammmm thing...kinda annoying to have an antenna slowly rising up as you're getting out of the car.

I had the same problem with an electric window regulator. I pulled the wires from the connector and reversed them. The motor does not know up or down. The antenna for FM is in the back window. The electric antenna is for AM. I spent a year trying different antennas-cheap and OEM (salvage) and ended up with a box of parts.

ric4044: My factory antenna had been replaced when I got the car, so I can't have a look for myself. Is there a relay box attached to the antenna that switches polarity to the motor?

I finally fixed my antenna the other day...the sensor was so covered in old, nasty grease, it didn't know when to stop pulling down and would break every antenna you tried to install. Cleaned it out completely and regreased all of the gears and now it works perfectly.

My 92 antenna inner gear that pulled the antenna mast had worn out, so I found a 94 antenna with a broken top (tube). I found out many changes had occurred with the antenna. If you want to replace the antenna assembly, you have to get the same exact year. A fixed antenna is the way to go. Some folks have used a new antenna cable, too. That's what I need. Time to pull the interior apart, again.
