I'm going to be using a w58 out of an 88 supra in my sc400 with a 2jz->w58 bell housing.
I'm fine with having to make a trans mount, I'm also ok with modding the stock shifter. my question is, will the stock auto driveshaft fit?

I'm not using an r154, its a w58 out of a mk3 supra, lol. But after some investigation, the a341e doesnt even have splines. so I guess what i need to know is, can i install a w58 yoke onto the stock sc400 driveshaft?
Modding the shifter is easy I'll just weld a peice of steel in the middle to pull it back 3 inches. I'm only wondering about the driveshaft really. It's funny that nobody mentioned needing to change the drive shaft. not even in the list thread.

Im getting the shifter housing extended for sc400 the w58 is out of a 92 sc300.... there is a guy on ebay that is doing the extensions for the r154s and w58... he does them for $225 im doing a whole thread on this swap with the older w58 there is 2 options extend the housing and the shifter seat, or extend the shifter... the housing and seat are ideal....this is the guy on ebay

I think you missed something, when we mean older w58 in this case we are talking about w58's from a mk3 supra that the shifter is too short. the 92sc300 w58 will fit the 400 you just have to use the 92 shifter, the housing is already extended a little vs a mk3 w58.
So any of them from an SC300 will fit pretty well, 92-94 w58's you will still have to drill a hole in the trans tunnel if you were auto (all sc400's are), and if you have a 95-97 w58 then you may be able to reuse the auto hole since these use a remote shifter design and a straight shifter, but the shifter cage may contact the auto tunnel if so you may have to mod it or get a supra TT or 95+sc300 tunnel and swap that in. The supra one is less expensive believe it or not.
If you have a older mk3 trans as in pre 92, then you have to extend the shifter and then do above like you would for the 92-94. It is also debated that the newer w58's have better synchros, but I am not sure if that is confirmed or not.

If its from an SC you should be fine as long as you have the right shifter, that 92 SC300 trans should have a bent shifter that makes up the rest of the difference, putting the top of the shifter it in the middle of the console.
my understanding is the mk3 w58 comes up shorter because it has a shorter housing even though it also has a bent shifter.
mk3 on the left, mk2 on the right

see sc300 trans housing is a little longer, but not by a whole lot.
