Thumbs up How to remove Pilot Bearing with a Doughnut

I had a lot of people asking me how to remove a pilot bearing, so I thought I would post a way that was easy and tasty!

Step 1: Buy glazed doughnuts and find your alignment tool.

Step 2: Pack doughnut into center hole, into the crank. Pack it tight and deep (thats what she said). Use the tool to assist.

Step 3: Enjoy doughnut during the packing process

Step 4: When tightly packed, hit alignment tool with a mallet. Repeat Step 2-4 until the pilot bearing comes out.

Step 5: Pilot bearing will fall out

Step 6: Remove doughnut for a tasty treat.

Step 7: Insert new bearing with a rubber mallet.

Step 8: Add doughnut to tool collection for future use or enjoy as a tasty treat.

We sometimes resort to using grease at the shop when the slide hammer bits wont fit in the bearings....works like a charm.

Just what i was looking for, well actually for the wet paper technique but its the same thing.

Just a quick question i believe when auto -> manuals the autos don't have a pilot bearing correct? We don't have to lube the bearing just put it in and give it a little smack correct?
