92 SC300 ecu, fuel pump problems
Okay here is another one for the great brains of Club Lexus.
I have a 92 SC300 that I got cheap with water damage inside the car (don't ask). When I bought the car the guy said it would run for 15 minutes and then shut off. To make a long story short. I found that the ECU was burned up inside (possibly due to water) and so I replaced it with one that worked. The car started right up but after about 20 minutes it died. After extensive diagnostics, I found that the reason the car died was because the fuel pump stopped running. So then I got on the message boards and I read all the posts dealing with the fuel pump ecu etc..... I changed that and still same symptoms. I even took the fuel pump ecu and tested it in another car and it worked fine. I then pulled the ecu (the new one) and took the cover off to find that it was burned up in the same place. I put the ecu in my other car and it ran for a few minutes but then died (the fuel pump stopped). So I know the ECU is now bad....
So I have a car that is burning up ECUs.... anyone have this problem before?
I am thinking of replacing the fuel pump (although I am not sure why that would burn up the ecu) and get another ecu to try (if anyone has an ecu for sale that fits a 92 SC300, I am in the market).
The car will run with the FP B+ terminals jumped in the diag plug, but that still doesn't explain why the ecu was killed....
Please help!
Thanks!
