http://store.driftmotion.com/static/...hubkitr154.php

is it just like a throwout bearing that comes with clutch kits? im researching/gathering for my upcoming r154 swap on my auto soarer and i am trying to figure out parts inside the tranny...im not mechanically inclined so im doing it step by step

here's what i have that go inside the tranny:
flywheel,
clutch fork, support + spring
clutch kit (pilot bearing, throwout bearing)

please let me know if i am missing anything, it will help me GREATLY, thank you very much!

You will need it, and you'll want snap ring pliers to install the washers too. Might want to get pricing from Curt at Elmhurst Toyota too.

Here's what it looks like installed.

That is the clutch release bearing hub. The r154 is a pull type transmission. This is actually what the throw out bearing attaches to. YOU NEED THIS.
Here is a blown up picture of the w58 clutch (top) with the r154 clutch (bottom)

http://www.cygnusx1.net/Supra/Librar...aspx?S=CL&P=11

Notice how the bottom (r154 pull type) has more components. The hub is the center of it all and it will not be possible to install a throw out bearing if you plan to keep it pull type.

The top (w58 push type) is the more traditional and you would not need a hub for this type of system.

Also, book mark the link. It is the mkIII tsrm. Use it for transmission based assembly instructions. Even though it is for a mkIII, the r154 there is very similar if not the same internally as the soarer transmissions.

One more thing.....Wrong section. This needs to be in the performance subforum.

Good luck.

Dude, the snap ring is kinda hard to install once all the washers are installed on the hub. It was easiest with someone there to hold it all together while I worked the snap ring....

The wave washer is like $17!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No kidding. I've replaced my bearing twice. Once when instaling the new clutch and another when the snap ring groove got borken off! I still have a scar when using a screw driver to pry the new rings into place when my snap ring pliers kept slipping.

Deceptively more labor intensive then what you see in the fsm.
