Default 3:27 rear end ratio with w58

i think the 4.08 rear in the sc300 5spd is too low, once im na-t i would like to have higher gears to get the most mph and mpg out of my sc, so say i went with a 3:27 rear end ratio with my w58 right now redline in first is 40mph second 60mph and third around 80, how would this be affected with the 3:27 ratio or even 3:77???

I think I did the math and you will be cruising at like 80mph @ like 2500 rpms or something. I like the sound of this, but it may just be too low.

2500rpm at 80mph sounds great to me, I am usually at 300-3200rpm at 80 in my r154

I am also looking at the 3.27 rear for my SC 400-W58 supercharged project. I drive mostly hwy and lower revs with a wider power band appeal to me. Is there a 3.27 that would fit into the 92 Sc 400 dif, and is there a lsd possibility? I also think that 3.27 would fit what I want most.

Speak up Omar, what are your impressions so far?

Did you install the pumpkin from the 4.30 or just the diff?

How does it feel? How does the boost come on?

I love it Michael , so far so good it feels a little sluggish off boost but i like, when am i boost it stay in boost longer .
Now i can cruise on the highway on 4th without even knowing that am on 4th .
I got the Whole pumpkin from an SC430, it wasn't too bad i just had to swap over the flange from the 300 to the 430 diff and Bam i was done.

If you wanted mileage shoulda bought a honda. I'll keep my high azz gears in my sc and enjoy walking people off the line with my boost! I really don't want another highway queen like a lot of supras and boosted scs.....

Turbos build boost based upon engine load dude.

The taller the gears the quicker and harder boost hits and you can stay in boost longer.

If you're only boosting to 12psi or something then you're not worried all that much about spool. But if you're boosting to 30... then you'll want to load that engine up for all it's worth.

Exactly! Runnin around on my stock twins, I need the help LOL Once I go single or upgrade the twins I would definitely throw away my 4:10 and 4:27 rear ends that I have and get something like a 3:73.

I do know all about the whole load thing as I have been building turbo cars for quite some time. Just since getting married I had to be good and have kept my 1j sc pretty basic until the wedding has been paid off and such.

Omar, email me or give me a call sometime 248-854-5333 or jkbaker@gmail.com we gotta cruise/chill!

I did a few calculations to get the relative differences with tranny and/or diff swap. Here is what I came up with on stock 92-96 SC400 as baseline.

SC400 with auto and 3.92 diff = 0% 83.14 at 3000 rpm
SC400 with auto and 3.76 diff = +4.08% 86.68 at 3000 rpm
SC400 with W58 and 3.92 diff = -9.96% 74.86 at 3000 rpm
SC400 with W58 and 3.76 diff = -6.12% 78.04 at 3000 rpm
SC400 with W58 and 3.62 diff = -2.50% 81.06 at 3000 rpm
SC400 with w58 and 3.26 diff = +7.64% 90.01 at 3000 rpm

So if you want as close to stock as possible the 3.62 from a 90-97 LS400 would be the closest. The 3.26 seems a little long. Definitely need boost to make that work. For me the question is can I get LSD in the 3.62 or 3.26?
