2jzgte swap into 92 sc300
first of all im gonna start off by saying i searched and searched, but i couldnt find any specific info on my situation.after years of being a die hard honda guy, i decided to step outside the little square box, and got my self a 92 sc400 with an auto trans. i want to swap in a vvti 2jzgte, and convert it to 5spd.i saved up about $4500 and plan on reconditioning the engine and doing a few upgrades. my question is what all is necessary to swap the 97+ motor into my 92. and will the r154 bolt up to the 2jz. also would it be wiser to go non vvti? any input will be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance

good luck its easy just do some research.. If you set the engines side by side you will know what to use and what to change.. Watch out with half the monkeys on here who have no clue what they are talking about ..

IMO, I think you should go with the non VVT-I motor but I'm sure others might disagree. Good luck!

ok to sum it up for you quickly the non vvti motor is harder and harder to come by... if you find a clean one it can cost you up to 2k....while the vvti is still abundant...and a bit cheaper and any 2jz tranny will fit to the motor just remember the output shaft and differental my be different so you may need a custom one or the matching one for that transmission...The non vvti motor has stronger internals and easier to tune...the bottom end holds up to about 800 whp there are also more after market parts made available for the non vvti motor than the vvti motor hope that helps you out and so you know the search function everyone says for you to do sucks cuz there is just too much garbage to filter through.... also the vvt-i motor was released in fall 1997 oh and the monkey comment you sure half i'd say more like 75-80 %

no way! 4500 is more than enough i . im gona be doing all the labor myself, with the exception of the wiring. ive been looking around and pieced most of the parts. im at a total of 2800 so far. that includes complete 2jzgte long block (1600),rebuilt tranny(550), harness ecu and driveshaft (add 350 to long block), fmic kit and a 3in apexi n1 muffler (300 for both). damn i love craigslist. i just hope this doesnt flake out.
