1 UZ-FE performance upgrade w Temp Sensor replacement?

the radiator sensor is to control your fans. the two sensors near left side front of engine are for the temp for the ecu and the cluster gage. factory one they are speaking of in this thread is the large plug with green top. smaller one behind that is the one with one wire to the temp gage in your instrument cluster.
i have a bad o2 that i will be replacing this weekend. have them right here "denso's". only getting code 21 for the main left one. but will replace both. thinking i will also replace this sensor spoken of in this thread along with the 2 main o2's.

I drive 5-6 miles; car shuts down, won't re-start. I wait 3 or more hours, car starts, i drive 5-6 miles car shuts. I replace the fuel filter; same thing. I thinking of re-placing the crankshaft sensor. HELP !

I haven't seen it mentioned; has anyone tried simply cleaning their OEM sensor? Corroded copper shouldn't be that tough to clean up, but I don't know how delicate the sensor itself is. If the quality of the aftermarket sensors is in question, as it seems to be, salvaging the OEM one would be worth a shot.
So I just did this today. Bought the OEM replacement from autozone. It wasn't too bad getting it out. Putting everything back together was painful.
My car is from 1996 and has about 122K miles on it. Garage-kept most of its life too. So after installing it, all I can say is wow. There is such an improvement in the entire rpm range. I can feel the biggest difference at low and mid rpm. The high end seems about the same.
I highly suggest everyone to at least check the condition of theirs. I am very happy with this.

I ended up finding other threads saying it's perfectly fine to just clean the sensor. However, when I took mine out, it had already been cleaned quite recently. Worse, the sensor was all busted up from the monkey that wrenched on it, with a broken plastic base, broken connector clip, and bare wire. So, I bought a new one, after all, and ordered a new pigtail connector which I haven't installed yet. I didn't notice any changes with replacing just the sensor.

the sensor itself looked very clean but i could see on the brittle plastic that it must have been in there a long time , guess factory
cheap fix for around 18 USD here in Europe , just go for it Oldmantan its a preventing tune up you know it won;t go bad for years to come

Bumping up old thread to see if it actually did make a difference or not, it's an interesting theory and perhaps if someone measured their 0-60 times on before and after it can help to prove it.
