Default Another "Clutch recomnendation" thread for my R154

The R154 swap is in progress but I keep going back and forth on the clutch kit. I'm at 310whp right now, eventually going to 400-450whp some day.

I was hellbent on an ACT Xtreme spring 6 puck but it seems a bit overkill.

Aaron at Driftmotion was trying convince me on his Action Stage 3 system with 6 puck. Nice price. Don't know much about Action clutches.

At this time, my hands are in the air with no idea what to do. What's your recommendation?

do not use act extreme pressure plate , its way too stiff and promotes crankwalk

i am at 500 rwhp (maybe more) about 450ish rwhp trq and i use act heavy duty pressure plate and sprung 6puck disk , holds just fine with zero slippage but very streetable and easily slippable into first gear with almost no chatter

Yeah, that was my worry with the Xtreme pressure plate.

Since I can't afford the dual disc Exedy setup $1200, I'm going to use a Southbend Feramic setup myself when I destroy the stock clutch.

I'm leaning towards the ACT TS2-HDG6. ACT Heavy Duty PP with sprung 6 puck, similar to what lexforlife is running. Fits the bill and the price is right.

That's a great setup. My buddy uses it in his GT35R turboed Talon.

I'd definitely consider it because its a sprung hub'd 6puck...which is cool, and coupled with the HD PP that won't kill your leg or kill the thrust bearings...

I'm using the HPF Feramic with the sprung option and supplied pressure plate. Got a great price on it and it's decently streetable. I like it alot, but I haven't used any other R154 clutches, other than stock.

I have the extreme pressure plate on the w58 with the 6 puck sprung disk.
If the heavy duty holds the power thats probably a better way to go.

When the car is cold the clutch chatters so bad that I seriously believe it will be the sole reason my w58 blows apart. not to mention my open differential actually sounds like its about to blow up when the chatter occurs, as the chattering makes it "do its magic".
slipping the car from 3k+ rpms is about the only time i dont get chatter.

I used to run the ACT and really like the clutch...I would say run the ACT. I have heard of some bad experiences with the Exedy kits...As for the 6 puck I have heard there is not much slipping into them...its on or off.

this is all based off a 300ZXTT so take it for what you will.
