Default Single Turbo JDM 2JZ-GTE v. Single Turbo US 2JZ-GTE

If one goes single turbo on a JDM 2JZ-GTE, would there be any difference in power as compared to a single turbo'd US 2JZ-GTE, given that the single turbos in each case is identical?

The differences are the cams and the injectors. The US spec'd engine could make a few more HP. Change out the 2 and you should get the same power.

the cams would be the big difference maker. Larger injectors would also let you run more fuel safely. ECU is also different.

You're in Cali. You wouldn't pass emissions since JDM doesn't have EGR.

How is that? JDM has top speed limiter and smaller turbos (less power).

mechanically, the only difference between JDM and usdm longmotors is the intake cam.

with a single turbo; you should be replacing:

ecu (or adding piggyback), injectors (usually- unless a puny turbo), exhaust manifold / piping.

the usdm longmotor will make slightly more powert due to the more slightly more agressive intake cam - 224deg vs 233 deg.

does that mean that the jdm would either spool up faster, be more powerful, or torqey at lower rpms?

Would the emissions failure be because of: (1) more gases out of the tail pipe; or (2) failure based on visual inspection?

Gasses. Lack of EGR is visible too.

if setup proper, no egr can get past the sniffer.

no play car of mine will ever legitimately pass visual, unless its a //M car
