hmmm 5speed swap is going to be about 1250 (give or take 500) turbo depending on how much boost from 800 (used or off brand) - 2500 (enough boost tuned and all the other misc stuff) OR 1jz-gte with a 5 speed r154 for 1800-3000. It will give you boost and a 5 speed. I know your not made of money and a lot of us are in the same boat... but you can always save up.

right now, my roommate and i, are converting a stock 93 sc300 auto to something more fun. we are almost finsihed and the car is ready for paint.
a DIY project would look like this if done with some new to slightly used parts.
coilvers, 2 way/1.5way diff and bushings, supra tt brakes- 2500
2jzgte motorset, piping, exhaust, wires, connectors, tape, misc. oils etc - 3000
origin bodykit, VIP wheels, tires, and paint/body work - 2600
soundsytem, navi, dvd, subs and amps etc - 1000
interior, leather, dye, steering wheel and hub, - 600
finishing up costs.- alignments, tuning, little bits here and there - 400
this is done in the garage so, those are parts and pieces that we bought....and my roommate was dreading to cut the hole for the clutch because of awkward position under the dash.. lol
good luck and hope that helps and that it goes well for ya.
i m sure you can go less with part choices or get some used... this is just stuff we bought and wanted the car to drive like new bu that should give you an idea.
