Default I think my SC400's tranny took a break

My tranny started acting up last week.. While driving perfectly fine, the RPMs just started climbing like the car wasnt in gear. I pulled over and sat there for 20mins planning to call a tow truck, i started her up and she started driving normal again...? So this week, it happened again.....almost the same spot while going to work but i think its finally gone. While driving after 2-5 minutes it wont shift and it feels like the car is not in gear, BUT if i turn of the car for just a couple minutes it goes back to driving fine and starts the cycle all over again...

Anyone know whats up with this? does our tranny have its own ECU?

when it stops working and i try to shift to any gear, nothing works, nothing happens. for that 2-5 minutes that it does work, everything else works fine. I've checked the tranny fluid and the level was good, i've drained about a quart out to look for metal chunks or anything and found nothing. The tranny fluid did come out dark and smelling burnt considering it was flushed two months ago.

nah, i got rid of the car yesterday. i paid 1 grand for it and got my money back on a trade in with the bad converter. there is this red clean 95 sc300 im going to buy to do my swap. I picked up a bmw yesterday, eventually had to pick up another car anyway before i started the swap, this just rushed that decision because the 400 was my only car.
