GTE cost.
I've been reading alot about how it's cheaper to go NA-T ect.
but what i want is a solid drift car, and my car is also automatic!
I'm starting to wonder if the 2jz-gte would actually be cheaper in the long run, vs. buying and installing a manual tranny plus turbo, and so on
it kind of makes more sense to me to save up until i find a decent 2jz with a manual tranny bolted up to it, and just drop that thing in there.
people talk alot about cost, but i want to hear from people who have actually done the swap, and how much money it's cost them.

Most of the 2jz-gte engines are from the JDM Aristo and come with an auto, so you'll end up doing the manual swap later anyways. Costs for the engine is ~2-2.5k. Figure another 2-5k for misc parts (oil pans, wiring harness, mounts, etc). Plus any labor costs if you're not doing it yourself.
My swap (with no labor charges) was about 15k but that included a lot of upgrades and new parts.
NA-T + manual swap would be cheaper IMO.

If you're looking to buy a manual 2JZGTE, you're gonna be buying a Supra TT motorset, which is definitely not going to be cheaper than going NA-T with a W58 swap.
If you're looking to do something within a reasonable budget, I'd recommend finding a 1JZGTE Soarer 5spd swap. They run around 1,600-2,000 usually, and it "drops right in"
