Does anyone ever feel like their oil burns off to fast?
Now with summer here in NJ its time to change the oil. Any recommendations on what viscosity to get when looking for oil. IN the winter I used 5w-30 the recommended viscosity in the manual all year round but I felt like it burnt off too fast. I use castrol syntec any other recommendations when choosing motor oil?

Acceptable oil consumption varies from manufacture to manufacture. GM says its normal to burn 1 quart per 1k miles while Nissan said any oil Consumption is unacceptable. If your losing only 1/2 a quart for every 3k miles I would not worry about it since about 80% of SC owners out there have over 100k miles. My personal opinion is anything over 1 1/2 quarts + is way too much oil consumption.
Here are the main reasons why you would have high oil consumption.
Bad Oil Rings
External Leaks (Cam Seals, Crank Seals, VC Gaskets, Pan Gasket etc.)
Worn Valve Stem Seals

It's just the chrome rings, my older German cars did the same thing twenty years ago, so it's nothing new really.
I now run 0W40, and it stays in there pretty good; by the time it's down, I add the sixth quart from the Mobil 1 six-pack, and look forward to changing it soon.
