Default a little scared, need help (Timing Belt 2JZ-GE)

I have a 97 sc300 with a 2j, but I am not sure if it is a conflict motor. I was going to park the car when it shut off like it ran out of gas. When I try to start it back up it had no compression. After a few tries with a friend I can see the crank turns but the cams dont

I was woundering how bad could this repair be when it comes to having a conflict motor and it breaking at 5mph

Crank turns, but cam shafts do not.....Timing belt.

You pulled the cover off right?

~If you broke the timing belt you will be able to lift up on it. Also will be able to take the belt off the cam teeth. There are notches on the cam gears. They should be pointing in the same direction. If they are not i.e.(10:00exh 2:30int) then the cams are off (misaligned)

~If the cam belt is taught (cant lift up on it) and the gears are straight. You could have striped the teeth off the belt, Or cracked the lower drive wheel.

97' 2JZ (non VVti) are non invasive or non interference.

You mean an interference engine? The 2jz is a non-interference so if the timing belt broke, no worries. Just align everything and install a new belt if that is in fact the issue.
Good luck.

It's about a one hour job not knowing what you are doing. Toyota made it idiot proof, you can't screw up the timing. Belts cost around $30, and put a new water pump in there too.. $50
