Default SC300 Climate Control Issues...

So I'm pretty sure my A/C system is in need of a serious overall ...I'll further elaborate...(also, I've been trying to search for a similar topic, no dice...)

First off, the Climate Control Unit on my SC300 hardly ever works, I've tried pushing every button and button combination available, no dice. Every now and then, randomly it will light up and function normally.

Second, I'm positive that my A/C system has a leak somewhere, as I've attempted to recharge the system, only to hear a sound that I can describe as a 'hissing' sound when attempting to charge. The sound is located somewhere on the driver's side of the engine bay.

Any thoughts or recommendations?
