Default SC400 Manual conversion ???'s

I have read all the threads on here about manual conversions but of course all these apply to left hand drive vehicles.

I am lucky here in NZ that bellhousings and flywheels for the 1UZ to R154 are very easy to get and quite well priced. The gearboxes aren't so cheap though...

Anyway, where I am going to have trouble is in the pedal assembly and clutch master cylinder area. There are no manual vehicles here in NZ so getting bits is hard.

Does anyone know if the LHD setup's will work on a RHD? I see that the master cylinder is shaped to clear components. What about the pedal's, are they different?

Cheers
Matt.

Get some from Japan or better yet contact Jhot Imports, call or email them and they might be able to help you.

I emailed them about a body kit from Japan and they said they can get it for me, of course they have to charge me fees on top of the manufacturer's price.

Try to contact Neil Griffiths at Rush Imports in NSW. He has done countless auto>manual swaps on V8's and I've heard nothing but good things about him. He is very knowledgeable and I'm sure would answer any questions you have.

Most private imports are automatic. Same here in Australia.

Matt, there are quite a few people that have done the 1UZ manual swap here in Australia. Check out Here and here, both of them are quite helpful

I agree with this 100%. If I were not an ocean and a continent away from Neil, I would be dealing with him 100% on my own 5MT swap for my V8. If you have any questions relating to the 1UZ and the Soarer, Neil is your guy.

Send an email to him at this address: <sales@rushimports.com.au>

Emailed Neil a few times today. He is a great guy for sure.

I am looking to utilise our local industry where possible. We have easy access to the bellhousings and flywheels and other bits needed but I haven't found anyone who has done a Soarer conversion using these bits yet.

Looks like a new pedal assembly and clutch master and slave cylinders along with the shifter bezel/surround are quite reasonable from the factory new.

Cheers
Matt.

I am in a similar boat man. Neil is the man, and I would have loved to have given him my business to use his 5MT swap kit; but, I was able to source local parts much more cheaply. While the local parts are relatively unproven, I like my chances to be able to put them into motion sucessfully without too many major modifications. Time will tell; the car goes up on stands in a week.
