do u get turbo surge? i found that the vaccume our cars pull when coming outa boost is a little weak. so i had to replace the spring in my blow off valve to a softer one and mount it on the hot side of ur intercooler. i use to get crazy flutter, moving it to the hot side helped alot. btw i use a tial 50mm works great!!!!!

hmm usually 2 bov when making huge numbers i thought. i would ditch the safc and just run greddy ultimate. i removed oem bov and have a greddy right before going into the intake, but just recently picked up a hks squential.

Yeah our vacuum is a little weak. I got a softer spring and it helped but I still get a little flutter then it opens up. I think I should relocate my bov since its not that far from my throttle body lol.

Here is a picture: (Do you think this location is causing the surge?)

I don't see the purpose of switching to a syncronic unit... If you already have a working BOV(s)... There won't be any performance gains.... But that video was pretty cool!

Where are you getting your vac/boost signal from? Should be pre Throttle body. Either it's plumbed incorrectly or the BOV is just shot.

Good luck!

Seriously looking at the dirt in the engine compartment makes me cringe. It's nasty.

OK this should shed some light on how ancient this setup is. It was done in 2000. As you can see there are additional injectors that were supposed to supply additional fuel. The whole setup was swapped to a lower mile 97 in 2006. Since the swap in 2006, the Relic injector controller, wiring , and fuel lines have been removed.

(the turbo and manifold are covered in thermotec. Not pretty but keeps the heat down)

Here is where you will see what looks to me like two BOVs. One up top Is OEM Toyota and the other is an old Skewl HKS. They both are driven off the same vaccume line.

Sooooooooo........
I'm going to replace the pipe with the old injectors and also delete one of the BOVs and replace the other BOV with the newer one posted earlier in the thread. I was wondering where to put it.

I'll clean the engine bay when I'm done with that stuff.

I was getting some engine knock due to my poor engine management electronics. I went down from 22 psi at 430 RWHP to 12 psi at just under 400 RWHP to get rid of engine knock uder boost.

Looking at getting a greddy Emanage. Any other suggestions guys

i would only run the new bov and thats it. i would also keep it close to throttle body. and most off all i would get some water under the hood, lol that is some crazy dirt.

OK I got it. Going to get the flange welded up and it should be good to go.

OK well it's on.

The first thing I noticed was it got rid of a problem I had. I used to get some kind of surge back and forth when the turbo began to really apply power in the powerband. It was enough to make your head move. That's gone. Also I used to get an uneven boost level at WOT, it would display pressure in a certain range at WOT but not really the same every time. Now it boosts to exactly where I set it.

Also I was set at 12psi. With out changing the boost controller I'm now getting readings of 15psi at the same settings. My only guess is my old BOV were not holding 100% of the pressure they should have. plus the setup was wacky Go figure.
