Quick throw down?
Can some body school me on the difference of 1jz and 2jz.
Sorry, im not much of a engine guru and i did search, but i rather have all my questions in one thread and hopefully have them answered.
I've been reading alot and figuring out what is "NA-T"
I sold my ls430 for a sc400 V8.
I wanna know if turboing the stock v8 engine will be worth it
and since its a 5 speed automatic, will it be able to handle the horsepower?
Im not really worry about the budget but i kinda want something quick but also a daily drive.
-Thanks

Members, I remind you of the sense of community we are trying to foster on Club Lexus. If something annoys you, it is sometimes simply better not to reply

I'll edit this in a sec with some quick answers & links for you.
I'd advise you to start with this site for some SC 101 schooling http://www.intellexual.net/faq.html
IMO (there are some that will disagree and certainly ways to make it happen) you should have bought a SC300 if you have a lot of questions about NA-T, 1JZ and 2JZ and want a significant amount of power... they apply to the inline 6 version of the car / SC300. NA-T as you've probably figured out is putting a turbo on the 2JZ-GE motor that comes in the SC300. The 1JZ is the earlier 'turbo' version of the inline 6 motor, a bit smaller in size but can be found fairly inexpensively. The 2JZ can refer to the 2JZ-GE in the SC300 as the 'non-turbo' version or the 2jz-GTE that comes in the Supra TT.
IMO you're going to go into an expensive world of custom work if you go down the path of turboing the v8. Since you have a 5-speed auto I assume your SC400 is a 98+ car? If so you should get yourself a high stall torque converter and put in a Supra TT 3.76 LSD pumpkin and call it a day and enjoy the car as is.
Similar 5 speed stock tranny in 98+ GS holds fairly reliably up to about 400RWHP. After that you rolls the dice.

Well, I have got to agree with dave on several points...
- The SC400 is most difficult to turbo due to all the custom work needed to get the plumbing fabricated...I most certainly have that experience!
- The SC400 is expensive to turbo, especially if you plan to do it properly. The whole project has to be carefully engineered. No aftermarket support.
- The SC300, I have no idea on, but many can answer...
