I read something small about this when i first joined clublexus, and i was wondering if there has been any progress. has anybody attempted to put an ls1 into a sc? i heard that the dimensions will work and im sure painless wiring harness could come up with something. As an sc400 owner i feel neglected on the go fast side and with 200,000 miles around the corner time is coming soon to start lookin at the inevitable.

You have to consider mating the tranny, if you go with the GM tranny then you have to mate the driveshaft, and would the GM tranny clear the body.

Well my younger brother has a 99 trans am, so im gong to go get my hands dirty and do a little hands on research. i would prefere to use the GM trans if possible because getting a custom drive shaft sounds easier. I am just in the preliminary stages of looking into it and was hoping others have thought the same way. I tried to search because i know there was something on here i read but i can't find it or anything else.

well the main reason i am looking into this is because a 2jz is expensive and you can get a ls1 for a pretty decent price. besides I'd rather go unique and have the v8 roar. And i know if i wanted an ls1 i shouldve just bought a trans am or gto or camero but they dont have much style with the exception of maybe the trans am and im sure the sc will haul *** with a 5.7 or if im lucky and come across a considerable more amount of money then a 6.0. Does anybody with some engine swap experience have any suggestions?

I have always thought that an SC with a big american engine would be alot of fun. I dont think this swap would be too difficult, especially if you are sticking with an automatic. The custom driveshaft is easy, all you have to do is take both the drive shafts to a drivshaft/axle shop and they will mate the 2 shafts together. All you have to do is measure the distance from the u-joint on the trans to the u-joint on the rearend. I had to do this when I was putting a 460BBF into my fox body mustang, and it was really easy. Hardest part of the swap would be making the engine and tranny mounts. I hope you do it, I want to see it.

Not until recently. The new Tundra has the 5.7 V8 engine. The largest V8 before the the 5.7 was a 2UZ which is 4.7.
