Default IS300 VVT-I engine in a sc300?

So i've looked around and can't find any info at all on this.
Can I put a VVT-I engine out of an 01-03 IS300 in a 92-96 sc300? Will I have to change the ECU or what? I know they are both a 2jz-ge and also the 98+ SC came with VVT-I but what about the IS engine?

I might be able to get one for really cheap w/ only 30k miles on it. It is really cheap but IDK if I can get it yet. Thats why. I would also feel better boosting a newer engine then an older one even if they have the same milage.

well yeah, a 1jz or 2jz-gte is a much better platform but they are not avaialbe to me for such a good deal right now. I'm still thinking about it though.

IS Engine is a bit detuned 2JZGE SC300 engine!! The Reason is because all the pips are more curved cause it has such a small engine bay!! and Flow is more restricted!! That is only difference!! As Far as I know the engine should mount in but little modifications. But WHy spend money on the same engine whne you can have your rebuilt for 2to 2.5G at most? How much is that IS engine you are getting? I found a 2JZGTE for 2G and it looks very clean with no rust!!

Its $500 bucks from a friend of mine. Out of his 02 is300 which he just installed a built 2jz in. It was running find when he took it out with only 30k miles on it.
