Default How long does a 2JZ-GE engine last?

I've been searching through the internet and posts here about how long the 2JZ-GE engine in our SC300s lasts. The figures seem to start at 200K miles and go up to like 500K miles on the internet.

Anyone here have any hard evidence or statistical knowledge of how long 2JZ-GEs typically go for assuming all maintenance is done in a timely and quality manner?

Also, has anyone tried putting in the 2JZ-GE with VVTL-i from the IS300s in a SC300 body? Does anyone know how much Lexus charges for a brand new replacement engine for our SC300s?

Thanks for any info. Reading stuff on these ClubLexus boards is always awesome.

good taken care of 2jz can last forever, well, almost
and 98-2000 models do have VVTi engines

new engine from the dealer installed by the dealer will cost you out the a$$$$$$$$$$$$$
you can buy a whole another 97-98 car for that much money

why do you wanna replace the engine?

Why on earth would you want to put the weaker 2jz-ge from the IS300 into a SC300? It'd be a custom job and a complete waste of money and something the Lexus dealer wouldnt touch...
Besides, no Lexus EVER had VVTL-i, i think you're getting it confused with VVT-I

Why not do the smart thing and:
-pull motor
-strip motor
-inspect upper-end (head, manifolds, replace gaskets, etc)
-replace bottom-end with either new OEM or aftermarket parts
-recondition block

all of that would be cheaper than to buy a NEW 2jz-ge engine from Lexus/Toyota...

My best advice? Stop trying to jump the gun. Drive that thing until it breaks, then figure out what you're going to do. I bet that you won't break it unless you do something stupid like hydrolock it or something.

For the people that like to make posts like these:
Get out of the American automotive market; at 100k, even 150k miles, these motors are just getting warmed up. Sure, go ahead and replace a few gaskets or a waterpump or two, but don't touch the engine unless it needs it. It will outlast YOU. There's a REASON this motor can handle 1000hp on its stock components

Thanks for the information. I was just asking out of curiousity. I don't plan on doing anything to my engine except maintenance for a long time. I got lucky and found a gem of a 1993 SC300 5 Speed with only 81K miles so I'm babying it and I know it has a long time left; just trying to learn more about these cars and their amazing engines. Thanks to those who replied.
