Question Stem seals????

I've been avoiding this for awhile, but I'm pretty sure I've got some worn valve guides / stem seals on my car. Its used a bit of oil since I got it over 40k miles ago (before turbo - uses 1 QT per 1000-1500 miles), and has recently suffered a couple of missed shifts, and some serious recent abuse by the dork bouncing off the limiter for a couple seconds while dynoing my car. Really frustrating... I'm getting a small puff of blue smoke on initial accelaration after idle... Not major, but from what the Supra TT guys say, its a weakness in the 2JZ engines with miles on them (mine has 140k).

Question? Has anyone replaced these stem seals / valve guides themselves? Apparently the parts are around $200 to $250. I'm wondering if I should just pull the head and send it off for a full race prep with 10 angle valve cut, blah, blah, blah...

Any opinons on this?
Anyone know of a good shop for head work? I may want to get it ported while its in.

aaahhhh!
Not the stem seals. Life is good. $7.00 PCV valve was causing the blue smoke after idling.
