Default great news for those looking for a FI method for SC400's

hey guys....

did a little web browsing and ran accross another Aussie company who manufactures S/C kits for the SC400(toyota soarer)...

their name is Raptor, but this company is diffrent as their kit uses a Centrifugal supercharger and intercooler, while maintaing AC/Powersteering...

most HP/PSI available with the exception of home made turbo kits...

kit is 5400USD shipped...im saving up as we speak...

Link : http://www.raptorsc.com.au

also, if anyone knows of any importers/federalizers in the states, could you please give me some contact information...id like to start getting an idea as to how painfull it will be to bring this car home with me (im due to move to my next duty station in 2008)

thanks

clarence....

not so great?...
you are looking at about a 100hp gain on pump gas with no other mods...im shure with cams/tuning and a smaller pulley you would have an unthinkable beast on your hands...

now in no way am i saying "you need this kit"...i just thought i would post the info i have found in an attempt to help you guys out, becuase i understand that by being where i am, i have access to UKDM/JDM/AUDM parts that people could only WISH they knew exhisted...

just the otherday i met a guy with this same kit and a r154 6speed tranny in his soarer...and that car laid waste to just about anything i have ever ridden/driven in with the exception of a Grandnational....

Or you could get an SC300, go NA-T and pay half the amount fot the same gains.

WHy sell the SC400, when you can swap in the 1JZ or 2JZ GTE just as easily.

only problem with that is that its old and boring...

Not saying that 1j or 2j is horrible becuase its an awesome engine with awesome capabilities. But the 1uz is cool and exciting because not that many are FI'd. Theres already forged parts for it, just needs a good kit right now.

plus having something thats a little different is cool. but once again, not saying the sc300 is bad or anything, just having a sc400 with TT or SC'd V8 is pretty freakin cool

I wasn't aware that a turbocharged sc300 was old and boring.

lol i didnt mean to make it sound bad, not my intention. but an engine that wasnt even supposed to be FI'd is pretty cool. Definetly different.

it sounds like you havent been around the block if that is fast to you, an 03 svt cobra stang would hang with an r154 sc'd sc no prob... in any event good find and im sure many will be happy that there is another option for fi on the 1uz sc's

i think thats what makes me want this kit so much...ever since i have been into cars, i have always gone the "uncommon" route...hell my first car was a 1988 thunderbird turbocoupe...

i think i want to supercharge this one becuase of two reasons

A) its a soarer, and who can say they know someone with a v8 soarer in the states

B) Not many v8 guys go the way of forced induction...

i figure if im going to spend the money, then im going to go the "exclusive" route... i even had plans to call a buddy of mine stationed in japan and see if he could get his hands on a c's 5.0 stroker kit....

but thats a whole new ball game on a whole other level...

and BTW...

i went to school for aftermarket management at Northwood university in florida, where all the rich dealership owners send their kids, and i have ridden in some FAST cars(porche GT2, 427 SS camaro, magnacharged C5, and a SLP kitted 03 Cobra), and i can say that the soarer might not beat them, but it wouldnt have been annialated...
