A/C Compressor Clutch Shot - Is it replaceable
I'm pretty sure my clutch is shot, I hear a grinding noise/screeching noise and its not like a belt slipping, there's definately grinding involved. Usually it only lasts a few seconds, but its definately getting worse and I've noticed if its going and I hit the A/C switch off inside it instantly stops, so I'm thinking this is what it is.
My question is if the clutch is replaceable, I don't think my compressor is bad. I've seen the clutch assembly for $200 on rock auto, but I wasn't sure if you're supposed to replace the unit as a whole.
I'll inspect the belt to make sure thats not it, but I just had it replaced about 6 months ago, and I haven't heard the high pitch screeching usually associated with a slipping belt.

A/C Clutch Replaceable?
I think that my A/C Compressor clutch has failed, and am curious if this unit is replaceable, separate from the Compressor, and whether it may be possible to replace this part of the unit, without having to remove the compressor/break the lines. Any thoughts?

Side question, does anyone have perfectly working AC and no leaks at all? Like you can go summer/winter/summer/winter without having any service done?
I got mine serviced last summer and worked great for a couple months, now it just blows warm air. I assume I have a leak or is this a compressor issue?

i had it retrofitted to 134a and went out 2 months after it , the seals couldn´t close the connection to the condensor and filter-dryer the inside of the lines were corroded and when he retrofitted it he add contrast fluid in it so easy to see where the leaks were
got new by-bass lines from the condensor and relocated the dryer with new rubber lines , still works

I had a remanufactured A/C compressor with clutch installed along with new high and low pressure A/C lines just four months ago. Everything works fine now. I bought a new Denso evaporator core as well but so far I haven't had to replace my original one.
Something I am going to try soon is to hook up the Supra TT electric A/C fan I just installed into the radiator if I can figure out a relay switch to come on with the A/C fuse. It's mandatory to have an extra A/C electric helper fan on 1JZGTE and 2JZGTE cars due to the extra engine heat but I have begun to wonder if a small generic A/C helper fan with a relay switch might help out normal SC's keep their A/C running cold.
