Default egr, trac. control removal

I am trying to get devoted to improving performance, as budget allows, and not sell my 95 sc400, I think in order to clean up uneeded stuff under the hood and make the underhood area look good and be easier to work on we should delete the egr and trac. control ( i own a 4 wd) I would like to know the pros and cons of this procedure.

If your state has emissions testing, you should not delete your EGR. It will fail testing without it. The system is designed to richen the fuel mixture with unburnt gasses. When removed, the mixture is lean and creates pinging.

You'll find that some systems are integrated and designed not to be removed. These aren't 70's automobiles with air pumps. Engine computers check for the presence and operation and may shut off the ignition as a safe guard.

OK I guess the e.g.r. really dosent bother me that much, I guess the next question is, how hard would it be to remove the trac cont. to free up space?

i don't mean to step on any toes, but the SOARER never came with an EGR, and i believe the motors are the same. so i don't see why removing the egr would give a negative effect. i hear people say this about the SC all the time, but i believe it is incorrect.

as for emissions... theres other ways to pass that.

but i too want to remove the traction control, i was thinking theres a different throttle body we can use. like one from an SC that didnt have the trac.

jtucci, I have not had a chance to take any of mine apart yet on the trac. cont., but I plan on it, it sounds as if you think there is a throttle body issue, by the way where did you get your shorty antennae? I hear lextreme has an egr delete kit, if we are going to make mods. to make these cars a beter sports car lets start by getting rid of the unessesary junk around our state of the art engine.

i have the lextreme egr kit. i also have a set of v8 intake manifolds w/ the throttle body. one portion of the traction control system is an integrated throttle plate inside the throttle body. its basically 2 plates in a row. i was hoping someone might know a throttle body that swaps into place w/o the trac.

the antenna i ebayed

My county does not have emmisions testing, but I want to retain driveability and engine temperatures, there must be more pros and cons to egr delete, I know that by pics. it looks better, less moving parts.

Back to the idea about a different throttle body, sounds like a h.p. gain to me, seems like I heard of an option, will have to think on that one.
