3 inch exhaust on an NA?
I'm thinking about getting my exhaust done. I want to do a single exit 3 inch exhaust, with the Apex-i WS muffler. The 3 inch exhaust is for when I go turbo sometime next year. Am I going to lose a lot of low end power because of the 3 inch piping? And is it going to be obnoxiously loud? I was thinking about getting it done from the header back and just adding one 3 inch resonator, possibly a 3 inch Random Technologies hi-flow cat.

just run the 3" from the midpipe back, it will be louder but shouldnt be too bad if you leave the stock cats in and are using the ws'. You may lose some low end but it will almost not be felt since the cats are still in place and are where most of the backpressure is created in our exhaust.

depends on resonator but usually they do quiet the exhaust abit. w/o one the exhaust note will be a bit raspy.
i'm doing the same thing with my car hopefully next week.

Nismo you are correct, you want from the Y pipe back. If you get a resonator it will do exactly what its named... take out resonation or raspiness like cannonbear said. Look for one that is smooth perforated core not one that has raised fin perforations, magnaflow and burns stainless sell the kind you want. They will muffle the tone a bit and lower the spl but not much, even so it is defn. worth it.

I was looking at the aero exhaust 3 inch resonator in the link below. Is this a good choice? i couldn't find a magnaflow or burns stainless resonator.

i cant get to your link its sends me to an error page... either way burns stainless models this is what im talking about for burns. I got my magnaflow at jegs so im sure they have it at jegs.com. it was a 3" and i think a 4.5" round body, maybe 5" by 14" i think. Only reason i use these companies is because of them being around for so long and being readily available to replace if i were to accidentally high-center the car and crush the resonator (which happens to me more than id like to admit).
