Default Transmission Sounds

I have a 96 Sc300 and my clutch makes a high pitch squeaking sound everytime it engages usually only in first gear. Its a six puck clutch. Any idea what could be the problem?

Default Same Problem

I don't know what the problem is, but I have the same noise when I engage first gear. I also have a 6 puck clutch. It's made by RPS. What company made yours?

I have no idea what company makes the clutch because it came with the car when i bought it. My friend tells me its because the clutch is overkill for a stock setup. Did your clutch make that noise when you had a stock clutch in there? If so i think i need to switch to OEM.

you get a noise when u press the clutch? if so its mostlikely the throwout bearing, you did replace that when u put the new clutch in right?

Mine happens at all temperatures also. My stock clutch never made this noise and when I first installed the clutch it didn't make this noise either, but now it does when engaging first gear sometimes. I guess let us know if anyone knows what the problem is and if there's a possible fix.

its the friction of the clutch material on the flywheel creating a resonation noise. its the same reason why high friciton material brake pads will squeal when not braking hard. I bet if all of you drop the clutch on a launch it wont make this noise... id just get used to it.

Acctually i dropped the clutch and now it makes an even worse noise. I think its time for a new clutch, time to go back to oem full disk.

one thing to check is put it in 5th gear and floor it. if the revs jump and you dont gain speed its defn time for a new one. its starting to sound like you may have glazed the clutch or whats left of it. good luck
