1JZ loom extension
hi guys
My 1JZ engine + tranny from 1994 soarer is in my garage now
I read all threads about wire extension of 1jz in lexus sc and still do not sure how it extended.
I read not mess with knock sensor shielded wires.
I read that only that wire for junction box in kick panel must be lenghted and that for ecu are long enough.
so there is picture of my loom.
Please look at it and answer:
1. lenghted loom in "A" position
2. must be lenghted in "B" position
3. or only junction box wires must be lenghted ("C" position)
please help
Jerry

i have a question to add on to this just for clarification. are the wires at section "b" the only wires on the entire engine that need to be extened (except the knock sensor- i dont know where it is yet)?
i know the question is amiture but i want to do this once and only once so im just making sure.
thanks guys

ALT-SC: knock sensors wires are that in clear isulation as you looking at ecu plugs (there are two wires). look close and you easy will find that. they are in cristal clear isulation (copper core is easy visible) at ecu of one of four plugs.
I really do not want messing with knock sensor wires...
I can put ecu in not stock position that is not problem, and only extended that junction box plugs. they are ordinary wires.

just cut the wires one by one on the bundle of cabin (junction) plugs...extend them about 25inches....plug and play ...have the ecu hanging behind the firewall unless you want to extend those too to sit on stock location. i didnt wanna mess with shielded wires so i just left ecu plug harness untouch.

hi guys
I today lenghtened that wires for junction box (5 plugs, 56 wires be exact )
ECU WIRES: ecu wires are enough for lenght but some work must be done:
1. make sure loom is MAXIMUM directed to passenger side of the car. (some work must be done where loom is going from hard plastic boxy thing with goes from intake engine side)
2. ecu will be upside down and not in stock ecu position but on the footwel where stock ecu that for sure.
minimim loom lenght is 25 cm from firewall to footwel. that is absolute minimum.
now I have at least 30 cm
tomorrow I try find if few centimeters can be earn if redirect wires in that plastic boxy loom on engine side.
whatever I do, I definetly do all pictures and DIY story
thanks
