Help! she wont start! :(
Hi All,
I've been having issues today; the sc won't start! when I put the key in, the guages / interior lights up. when i turn it, i hear a rapid clickity /clicking noise, and the guages dim...
I think it's a battery issue, but the hydrometer is showing green/ charged.
What else could it be?

Rapid clicks is usually a bad battery. Check all of your connections and give it a jump start and a good long drive. Then try again. If no, replace the battery.

If the starter is shorted out it will ground the battery and be a huge load. That will draw down the voltage and make your gauges dim. When it tries to start the sudden drop in voltage will also cause the starter solinoid to disengage(click) and then when the voltage rises it will re-engage(click). Repeat till the battery is dead.
If you persist in trying to start the engine you will torch the battery, burn up wiring, fry the solinoid, etc. You have to get an ohmeter on the +cable feeding the starter and check the resistance. It will be only a few ohms so it has to be a good meter. If it checks good, after that it is to find out where the ground is. The electrical stuff always seems to throw them off the trail.

The guy that saidthe problem is "most likely" you battery was correct. I left that out as you said you checked it with a "hydrometer" and it was ok. Very old batteries can somtimes check good and be fryed. If it is truely good it should easily operate your lights and the heater blower simultaniously. The jumper idea was good but I wuld still be alert to the cooking of wires with a shorted starter.
