M/T Swap with 300/400?
Im planning on buying an SC, very soon. My friend bought an SC300 a while back, and swapped it with a M/T for like $500. If I were to get a 300, I would probably do the same, since the 300's that come with the M/T are so damn hard to find.
I wanted to know, what kinds of problems I can expect. I know my friend doesnt want to tell me.
Has anyone on this forum put a M/T into a 400. I would guess not because I remember reading somewhere, that due to emissions and insurance reasons, you cant, to be street legal anyway.
My post may be retarded, and my question has probably already been answered, but I cant seem to find it on the forums. Any help is greatly appreciated, and thanks in advance.

Well as for the manual conversion in an SC400, it's been done in so few instances not at all because of emissions or insurance reasons. If anyone were worried about that, those people worried would not be the ones with the ***** to actually go through with it. It's because of the sheer difficulty of the project that it has hardly been touched. But recently there has been a spike in interest for the 1uz-fe V8 used in the SC400. This interest is coming from our cousins with the Supras. They want the V8 in their cars. So of course someone had to make a way to bolt up the 1uz-fe into those Supras. That bolt-up comes in the form of an adaptor plate that translates the bolt pattern on the 1uz-fe to that of the v160 6-speed Getrag used in the Twin-Turbo MKIV, as well as the r154 and w58 transmissions used all across the world in many Toyota automobiles including older MKIII Turbo Supras (r154) and the SC300's (w58) we've got here in the states. All three transmissions have the same bolt pattern. The Supra party's interest in the 1uz-fe has opened a gateway for the SC400 to be made into a manual.
As for the SC300 transmission swap, that can be done more easily as these transmissions would bolt up far more easily, but the driveshaft among other things would need to be replaced or modified.
